2304-Duplex stainless steel without molybdenum

Alloy 2304 (UNS S32304) is a duplex stainless steel containing 23% chromium and 4% nickel that does not contain molybdenum.

2304 stainless steel (Chinese grade: 00Cr23Ni4N) is a low-alloy duplex stainless steel developed in Sweden. Its solution treatment temperature is about 1000℃, and the structure has 40%-50% ferrite and 50%-60% austenite. , With the common characteristics of duplex stainless steel, it is developed as a steel grade with high strength and low price, which can replace the commonly used austenitic stainless steels of 304L and 316L.


It has been confirmed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) that it can be used in boilers and pressure vessels, chemical plants and pipelines in oil refineries, and many countries have included it in the standard. The American standard is UNS S32304, and the Swedish commercial grade is SAF 2304.


The corrosion resistance of 2304 alloy is similar to that of 316L.

In addition, its mechanical properties, namely the yield strength, are twice that of 304L/316L austenitic grades. This feature enables designers to reduce the weight of products when designing products, especially when designing pressure vessels.

 

SAF 2304 stainless steel has good mechanical and physical properties, resistance to stress corrosion and other forms of corrosion, and good weldability, making it possible to replace 304, 304L, 316, 316L and other austenitic stainless steels. It can be used to manufacture amine recovery equipment, hydrocarbon fermentation equipment, etc. In addition, it can also be used as a heat exchanger in the manufacturing industry, a preheater for cooking pots in the pulp and paper industry, and a train seat frame in humid and hot offshore areas, etc.
